IN-PLANE FORCES ACTING ON RIGID HORIZONTAL DIAPHRAGHM

To find the reactions (to in-plane forces) on walls supporting a rigid diapraghm, use rigidfl.exe in conjunction with brun45.exe.

Input files are used. Documentation and a sample input file are given in rigidfl.doc.

  • Supports other than conventional walls can be represented by a stiffness matrix.
  • Mixed walls and stiffness matrices can be used.
  • Walls are defined by height, thickness and end coordinates. Bending and shear moduli of elasticity are input.
  • Bottom of wall is fixed. For wall stiffness calculations, top of wall can be considered fixed to slab or pinned.
  • A (reduction) factor can be applied to wall moment of inertia and/or shear area.
  • Wall are located and external forces are given in a global axis system.
  • Forces on walls and wall deflections are found.
