EIGHT BOLT STIFFENED EXTENDED END-PLATE CONNECTION
To design an eight bolt stiffened end-plate beam-to-column connection usestfenpl8.exe in conjunction with EXTDAISC.DOC and brun45.exe.
The "EXTDAISC.DOC" file allows you to access the required beam and columnproperties by using their standard W designations. YOU MUST USE IT. The program uses Allowable Stress Design. The end plate is A36. There are 8 tension bolts, but only 6 are considered to be effective.The connection is designed using A325 bolts. E70XX electrodes are used; weld sizes are computed. Requirements for column stiffening are checked. If stiffeners arerequired, the plate and weld sizes are found. The 14 values associated with each beam in the file "extdaisc.doc" are:
