BEAM ON AN ELASTIC FOUNDATION

To analyze a beam on an elastic foundation (subject to distributed loads), use nbefdl.exe in conjunction with brun45.exe. The "brun45.exe" file is necessary because "befdl.exe" is not a stand-alone executable file.

This is a finite difference solution using equal segments.

  • Various end support conditions can be used.
  • Beam modulus of elasticity must be constant.
  • The foundation modulus, the beam moment of inertia and the distributed load can be different for each sement.
  • There are two arrangements to decrease input data if certain properties are constant throughout.
  • One can judiciously use this program to accomodate concentrated loads.
